On November 17th of 2023, Francis Lawrence released the new Hunger Games movie prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes in the USA.
We asked Longfellow Middle School students who have seen the film to share their perspectives about their movie and rate it on a scale of 1 to 10.
“10, because it’s just a really good plot and Snow is just an interesting and fascinating person. I just love watching him go through his journey,” said 8th grader Selah S.
Another 8th grader, Jolyann M., responded, “Probably like an 8. It was a good movie; because it actually kept me awake. I liked it.”
There are many opinions and feedback towards The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, so we asked LMS students what they would want to change about the movie.
“The ending was confusing and it was just kinda hard to comprehend, I would just want a more clear ending,” said an 8th grader Elise L.
Other feedback consisted along the lines of ‘more drama,’ and ‘keeping characters closer.”
Along with the previous Hunger Games movies, they have received fifty-one nominations, and won twenty-eight, becoming one of the most known movie series. Given that fact, we also asked students whether they had seen the previous movies and which was their favorite.
“My favorite one is Catching Fire; because it really shows a lot of detail and I love the characters,” said 8th grader Laila Jafri.
Even though The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is still in theaters, it is on certain streaming platforms for rent or purchase. Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play and more all provide this Hunger Games prequel along with the rest of the films.
