According to the Pew Research Center, 90% of Americans celebrate Christmas. Online personalities and influencers love to share what they call their “Christmas Hauls” (a show and tell of the gifts they received,) on TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube. Longfellow students shared a few of their favorite gifts from 2023.
The majority of students interviewed wanted AirPods for Christmas. 8th grader and Christmas enthusiast Karin L. touched on the subject before the holidays.
“If I could have any gift I wanted, I would get AirPods. I think they’ll be really popular in 2024 and will continue to be a great gift for years to come.”
Karin was not disappointed. Her Christmas Haul included AirPods, Converse, and clothes.
“Shoes are a very wonderful unisex gift. Many of my friends were given Uggs, Jordans, Dunks, Converse, and Air Force Ones,” Karin added.
Shoes continue to be a trending gift for teens.
“My friends received makeup from Sephora,” says Lilly C., an 8th grader. She also stated, “Some of my guy friends were given chains.” These chains are usually silver or gold necklaces.
Makeup and jewelry were very popular this year.
“I love statement earrings, and when I saw I got them, I was super excited!” says Saachi T., an 8th grader at Longfellow. Thomas also received paints and art supplies to supplement her hobby, and Cooper was given sports gear to support her passion for softball.
Another gift students received was room decor. LED lights, pillows, blankets, mirrors, candles, and plants are quite popular items.
Saachi said, “A lot of my friends were given room decor. I was also given room decor because I’m decorating my room right now.”
Karin also received room decor; “I got a candle and some LED lights, which I was really happy about.”
Camilla S. was also given decor. “My best friend gave me a candle for christmas, it smelled amazing.”
Most Longfellow students were given clothes for christmas; Camilla was given a pair of leggings and a shirt. Karin also got a stylish and comfortable hoodie, and Annika P. was given a Lululemon zip up jacket.
In conclusion, popular Longfellow gifts this year were jewelry, clothes, shoes, room decor, skincare products, and makeup.
