OPINION:  Movie Night Madness

THIS IS A STUDENT EDITORIAL AND DOES NOT NECESSARILY REFLECT THE OPINION OF THE LONGFELLOW ADMINISTRATION

Longfellow hosted a school movie night, playing holiday classic Elf in the Lecture Hall just before Christmas.  Here’s an in-depth breakdown and review, from snacks to pricing.

First of all, the movie Elf. It’s a good movie but apparently not good enough to get people to pay attention. The sound system wasn’t working well, and everyone was talking, so you couldn’t hear the movie.

The reason a lot of people went was because of the snacks. The snacks were an amazing addition because they made it feel like more of a movie environment. However, they were a huge mess. Every two steps you took, you would land on an empty Sour Patch Kids or Cheetos bag. The drinks were much messier. A lot of people had brought blankets to sit on, which was smart because cans of coke were being spilled left and right.

The snack tables were rife with crime. We witnessed people just simply steal snacks; others would crumble up money and fake its value.

While many snacks were tasty and well-priced, a few stuck out as being bland and overpriced, such as the hot chocolate.

One student reported that he “paid a dollar for chocolate-colored water” and that “the only purpose it served was to get my taste buds scared.”

Overall, the movie was good and enjoyable, but student behavior and overall experience were chaotic and mixed.
